Biofuels

What are Biofuels?

Biofuels are fuels produced from organic matter, known as biomass, which includes plant materials and animal waste.  Interesting enough, biofuels account for approximately ~10% of the world's energy demands. Ethanol and biodiesel are the most widely used liquid biofuels.  Ethanol can be produced through fermentation and distillation from any raw material containing lots of sugar (such as sugar cane or sugar beet) or even lots of starch (maize or wheat).  [GreenFacts]
